Mike and I met with Dr. Wyshock today to discuss the results of his CT scan and his blood testing done last week. Dr. Wyshock stated he was happy with Mike's results. The CT scan showed regression in the lungs and liver. When asked about the colon, he said it is hard to see on the CT scan due to everything surrounding the colon, but the report stated everything had regressed.
When Mike had his first CEA testing, his reading was 23, 184. The normal level for this test is 0.-2.5. The results from his testing on 07/15/2013 showed this reading to be down to 56.1!
I asked Dr. Wyshock if Mike's response to his treatment was better than he had expected or about normal for these types of cancer. He stated that in his line of medicine and the years practicing, he does not have expectations, but stated that he was happy with his results.
We are both really excited about these results. I cried happy tears. Everyone we have told is so happy and excited for him. Will keep you posted.
This site was created to chronical my husband's, Mike fight against cancer as well as keeping family and friends posted on Mike's condition. It will also explain the alternative cancer treatments he received in Germany at the Klinik Marinus am Stein run by Dr. Axel Weber so that it may help others who are considering alternative cancer treatments.

07/01/13 TREATMENT
Thursday, July 4th
Here is an update on Mike's treatment.
Mike had his 6th treatment on Monday, July 1st. His WBC was down to 3100. He was told that a repeat CT scan would be done on Monday, July 15th as well as a CEA test. He then has a follow up visit with Caitlyn, the physician assistant in the oncologist's office for the results.
We will have a copy of the CT scan put on a disc that I can send out through Fed Ex so we can get it to Dr. Weber in Germany as soon as possible for his review. I also hope to include his CEA test, but if I cannot get that out right away, then I will download the results from the hospital's web site and email that to Dr. Weber.
We then hope that we will hear back from Dr. Weber telling us to pack our bags as he has accepted Mike as a patient. Please keep Mike in your prayers and keep your fingers crossed that we get good news from Germany.
We have had such good response to the selling of the Fight for Mike awareness bands and can cozies with the money going to the Lords Cancer Care Association bank account to help with Mike's treatment costs as well as getting Mike to Germany. The support of our friends and the donations we have received have been wonderful. We are so thankful for everyone's generosity.
Until the next post......

HAPPENINGS SINCE CANCER DIAGNOSIS ON 03/19/13
Sunday, June 23, 2013
Mike's diagnosis started on March 19, 2013 with the lung cancer and then the discovery of liver and colon cancer in April. Since that time, his boss had given us a book concerning German Cancer Clinics which I read. We have decided that we would like for Mike to be seen at Marinus am Stein near Munich Germany. Dr. Weber operates this clinic and uses various alternative treatments for cancer that are not allowed here in the United States. We have been in contact Dr. Weber through email and have forwarded Mike's medical records to him for review. He feels he can help Mike. Through Dr. Weber, we have been able to get in contact with 2 American Citizens who have attended this clinic. One is Jay who lives in California and had prostate cancer and the other is Richard who lives in Delaware and had liver and lung cancer. Both went through 3 weeks of treatment and before they left they had CT scans. Both of their scans came back showing no signs of cancer.
An account has been set up by Mike's boss called Lords Cancer Care Association. This account has been set up through Sovereign Bank to accept donations towards Mike's treatment for his cancer and to be used in our goal to get Mike to Germany. Donations can be made at any Sovereign/Santander bank.
We have also been fortunate enough to have great friends who have had awareness bracelets and can cozies made which say - Fight for Mike on them as well as friends who sold cookies to raise money, both towards our goal. The Loyalsock Lancers Relay for Life team also donated money from their fund raising events. The donations we have received have been great. We have even had donations from people we do not even know. Mike is on numerous prayer chains all over the world as well.
Mike had his 5th treatment on Tuesday, June 18th. His blood count was up from 3700 to 4000 which was good. However, later that day he was already feeling the side effects from the chemo: pins and needle effects in his hand and when he drinks. He is unable to drink anything cold or touch anything cold. His nausea started as well. That usually lasts thru Friday. By yesterday (Saturday) he was feeling better. Mike is also taking various vitamins and supplements prescribed by Dr. Powers (alternative healing doctor here in Williamsport) as well as having Vitamin C infusions. He is waiting to schedule infra red sauna treatments as cancer does not like heat We have heard that Dr. Powers thinks it is great that we are trying to get Mike to Germany. His response was - "Good, good for him! " Hopefully we get that same or similar response from the cancer treatment center. Mike has not said anything to them yet because he does not want anyone talking him out of going to Germany. I have told the PA at our family doctor's office and she is supportive as well. She said, "What does he have to lose?"
Mike is just anxious to get thru his 6th treatment on Monday, July 1st. After that treatment, arrangements will be made to have his testing done to see if the chemo has done anything to his cancer level and if the tumors have shrunk.
